Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Telmisartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.

Telmisartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is sometimes given together with other blood pressure medications.

Telmisartan is also used to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death from heart problems in people who are at least 55 years old with risk factors for serious heart disorders.

You should not use telmisartan if you are allergic to it.

If you have diabetes, do not use telmisartan together with any medication that contains aliskiren (Amturnide, Tekturna, Tekamlo, Valturna).

You may also need to avoid taking telmisartan with aliskiren if you have kidney disease.

To make sure telmisartan is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

  • kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);

  • liver disease;

  • heart disease;

  • if you are dehydrated; or

  • if you are on a low salt diet.

FDA pregnancy category D. Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop using and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant. Telmisartan can cause injury or death to the unborn baby if you take the medicine during your second or third trimester. Use effective birth control.

It is not known whether telmisartan passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

You may take telmisartan with or without food.

Do not crush, chew, or break a telmisartan tablet. Swallow it whole.

Keep each tablet in its blister pack until you are ready to take it. Tear or cut the blister apart from the rest of the package and peel back the paper liner. Push the tablet through the foil to remove it.

It may take 2 to 4 weeks before your symptoms improve. Keep using the medicine as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

Your blood pressure will need to be checked often.

You may have very low blood pressure while taking telmisartan. Call your doctor if you are sick with vomiting or diarrhea, or if you are sweating more than usual.

If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medicine even if you feel well. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. You may need to use blood pressure medication for the rest of your life.

Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults and children who are at least 3 years old. It improves your ability to exercise and prevents your condition from getting worse.

Bosentan is available only under a special program from a certified pharmacy. You must be registered in the program and understand the risks and benefits of taking this medication.

You should not use bosentan if you are allergic to it, or if you are pregnant or might become pregnant during treatment.

Some medicines can interact with bosentan and should not be used at the same time. Your doctor may need to change your treatment plan if you use any of the following drugs:

  • cyclosporine; or

  • glyburide.

To make sure bosentan is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

  • liver disease;

  • fluid retention;

  • diabetes;

  • an autoimmune disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis; or

  • if you have had or will have a heart or kidney transplant.

Do not use bosentan if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. This medicine can cause serious birth defects. Tell your doctor right away if you miss a menstrual period or think you may have become pregnant during treatment.

You will need to have a negative pregnancy test before starting this treatment. You will be re-tested every month during your treatment, and 1 month after you stop taking this medicine.

Even if you are not planning a pregnancy, you are considered able to become pregnant if:

  • you have not gone through menopause (you have never gone 12 months in a row without a menstrual period).

While taking bosentan and for at least 30 days after your last dose, you must use a highly effective form of birth control or two methods together.

  • A tubal ligation alone is an effective birth control method.

  • An intrauterine device (IUD) alone is also an effective birth control method.

  • If you use birth control pills, implants, injections, skin patches, or vaginal rings, you must use a back-up barrier form of birth control, such as a or diaphragm or cervical cap. Always use a spermicide gel or insert together with a barrier form of birth control.

  • If you use only a barrier method, you must use a second barrier method as a back-up. For example, use a diaphragm or cervical cap in addition to a , plus a spermicide gel or insert.

  • If your partner has had a vasectomy, you must still use a second method of birth control--either a barrier method or a hormonal form (birth control pills, injections, skin patch, or vaginal ring).

Bosentan comes with patient instructions about acceptable forms of birth control to use while taking this medicine. Follow these directions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

If you are the parent or caregiver of a female child taking this medicine, talk to the child's doctor once you notice any signs of puberty (breast development or pubic hair), even if menstrual periods have not yet begun.

Bosentan can decrease sperm count and may affect fertility in men (your ability to have children).

It is not known whether bosentan passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

Rivaroxaban blocks the activity of certain clotting substances in the blood.

Rivaroxaban is used to prevent or treat a type of blood clot called deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can lead to blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism). A DVT can occur after certain types of surgery.

Rivaroxaban is sometimes used to lower your risk of a DVT or PE coming back after you have received treatment for blood clots for at least 6 months.

Rivaroxaban is also used in people with atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm disorder) to lower the risk of stroke caused by a blood clot.

Rivaroxaban can cause a very serious blood clot around your spinal cord if you undergo a spinal tap or receive spinal anesthesia (epidural), especially if you have a genetic spinal defect, if you have a spinal catheter in place, if you have a history of spinal surgery or repeated spinal taps, or if you are also using other drugs that can affect blood clotting. This type of blood clot can lead to long-term or permanent paralysis.

Get emergency medical help if you have symptoms of a spinal cord blood clotsuch as back pain, numbness or muscle weakness in your lower body, or loss of bladder or bowel control.

Do not stop taking rivaroxaban without first talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly can increase your risk of blood clot or stroke.

You should not use rivaroxaban if you are allergic to it, or if you have:

  • an artificial heart valve; or

  • active or uncontrolled bleeding.

Rivaroxaban can cause a very serious blood clot around your spinal cord if you undergo a spinal tap or receive spinal anesthesia (epidural). This type of blood clot could cause long-term paralysis, and may be more likely to occur if:

  • you have a genetic spinal defect;

  • you have a spinal catheter in place;

  • you have a history of spinal surgery or repeated spinal taps;

  • you have recently had a spinal tap or epidural anesthesia;

  • you are taking an NSAID--Advil, Aleve, Motrin, and others; or

  • you are using other medicines to treat or prevent blood clots.

Rivaroxaban may cause you to bleed more easily, especially if you have:

  • a bleeding disorder that is inherited or caused by disease;

  • hemorrhagic stroke;

  • uncontrolled high blood pressure;

  • stomach or intestinal bleeding or ulcer; or

  • if you take certain medicines such as aspirin, enoxaparin, heparin, (Coumadin, Jantoven), clopidogrel , or certain antidepressants.

To make sure you can safely take rivaroxaban, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.

It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

It is not known whether rivaroxaban passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are using rivaroxaban.

Rivaroxaban is taken either once per day or two times per day, depending on the reason you are using this medication. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Carefully follow your doctor's dosing instructions.

For atrial fibrillation: Rivaroxaban is usually taken once per day with your evening meal.

For blood clots in your legs or lungs: Rivaroxaban is usually taken with food 1 or 2 times per day, at the same time each day.

For preventing blood clots from coming back after prior 6-month treatment: Rivaroxaban is usually taken once per day with or without food.

For hip or knee replacement surgery: Rivaroxaban is usually taken once per day with or without food.

Ticagrelor helps to prevent platelets in your blood from sticking together and forming a blood clot. An unwanted blood clot can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions.

Ticagrelor is used to lower your risk of having a stroke or serious heart problems after you have had a heart attack or severe chest pain (angina).

You should not use ticagrelor if you have severe liver disease, any active bleeding (including a bleeding stomach ulcer), or a history of bleeding in the brain. Do not use this medicine just before heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

You may need to stop using ticagrelor for a short time before having surgery or dental work, to prevent excessive bleeding. Do not stop taking ticagrelor without first talking to your doctor, even if you have signs of bleeding. Stopping ticagrelor may increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Ticagrelor may cause you to bleed more easily, which can be severe or life-threatening. Avoid activities that may increase your risk of bleeding or injury.

Call your doctor or seek emergency medical attention if you have bleeding that will not stop. You may also have bleeding on the inside of your body, such as in your stomach or intestines. Call your doctor at once if you have black or bloody stools, red or pink urine, or if you cough up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. These could be signs of bleeding in your digestive tract.

Many drugs (including some over-the-counter medicines and herbal products) can cause serious medical problems if you take them with ticagrelor. It is very important to tell your doctor about all medicines you have recently used.

You should not use ticagrelor if you are allergic to it, or if you have:

  • severe liver disease;

  • any active bleeding;

  • stomach ulcer or bleeding; or

  • a history of bleeding in the brain (such as from a head injury).

Do not use this medicine within 5 days before heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

To make sure ticagrelor is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

  • liver disease;

  • a serious heart condition such as "sick sinus syndrome" or "AV block" (unless you have a pacemaker);

  • asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) or other breathing problem;

  • a history of stomach ulcer or colon polyps;

  • a history of stroke; or

  • a history of bleeding or blood clotting disorder.

Ticagrelor may cause you to bleed more easily, especially if you have:

  • a recent surgery or bleeding injury;

  • a disease affecting the blood vessels in your brain;

  • a history of stroke;

  • a history of bleeding problems;

  • a history of stomach or intestinal bleeding; or

  • if you are 65 or older.

It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
